FAQ's
IS THIS A FREE CLINIC?
No, this is a clinic for the medically uninsured. We don’t accept insurance, Medicade/Medicare.
I HAVE TO PAY FIRST? WILL YOU TAKE A CHECK?
Yes, you must pay before you receive care. We don’t take checks or have a payment plan. Cash, Master Card or Visa are the only acceptable forms of payment.
I GET THIS ILLNESS EVERY YEAR, I DON’T WANT TO PAY FOR THE OFFICE VISIT I JUST NEED ANTIBIOTICS
There are now antibiotic resistant “bugs” due to provider overuse. Specific body systems require specific antibiotics. We are credentialed professionals who determine through a focused physical exam and many times lab tests (throat culture, urine dip or blood work) a working diagnosis required for distribution of antibiotics.
I JUST LOST MY INSURANCE AND HAVE A CHRONIC ILLNESS DIAGNOSED BY MY PREVIOUS PROVIDER, I DON’T WANT TO PAY FOR LAB WORK I JUST WANT MY MEDICATIONS REFILLED
Unless you have your entire medical file with all your information regarding your chronic illness (i.e. diabetes, COPD, depression) with blood work results within the last 2 weeks, we can’t just give you medicine. In order to practice GOOD medicine we are required to perform a complete history and physical, as well as, lab work to properly decide if the medication you currently on is working. We are required to ensure your organs are in good health in order to continue or increase medications (i.e. kidney, liver) Many times we need to run specific labs to confirm your diagnosis.
I THOUGHT YOU HELPED THE POOR
We are not a free clinic nor are we not a non-profit organization. Queen Street does not receive additional money for subsidized operating expenses (state or federal) in order to keep its doors open. We do provide discounted health care (refer to the pricing sheet). If you went to an urgent care facility in the immediate Alexandria area you would pay on average $110.00 just to walk in the door and that does not include any lab tests, x-rays, or in clinic treatments. The ER is almost double that.
DO YOU PROVIDE IMMUNIZATION SERVICES?
Queen Street only performs TB skin tests and tetnus shots.
DOES ANYONE SPEAK SPANISH?
Yes, the owner and sole provider speaks Spanish.
I QUALIFY FOR A MEDICATION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM SO WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR PERIODIC LAB TESTS?
We would be practicing poor health care if we were not performing REQUIRED regular lab tests to ensure that specific internal organ are being maintaining good health and that your medications are working properly. They may need adjusting.
WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR AN OFFICE VISIT FOR ABNORMAL LAB RESULTS?
Abnormal results require patient education about this “newly found” information and what these results involve regarding your future health. Many times patients will require new medications and/or multiple new medications over time. All patients require an understanding of what their future care will entail with the new diagnosis.
I LOST MY PRESCRIPTION WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW WRITTEN PRESCRIPTION?
We are accountable for ever prescription that walks out this door. It is the medical oath of the provider that encompasses the provider’s obligation to ensure the patient doesn’t misuse the prescription.
